While it would seem like I would have less time on my hands because the weather is so nice and we’ve been spending more time outside, the opposite is true. Cabin fever makes me become really lazy. But nice weather makes me motivated to do things. Maybe it’s because the days are longer; or because if the constant exposure to the fresh air; or because spring is less depressing… but whatever it is, I’m thoroughly enjoying it!

And Alyssa is too! Her favorite thing to do these days is climb up and down the front porch steps (with help of course). Once she gets down to the sidewalk, she will walk to our next door neighbor’s steps and sit there playing with the wood chips from their garden. Fortunately we have really nice, young and understanding neighbors who do not mind in the least. After a while, we put the wood chips back and return to our side where she picks up the small plastic trash cans my mom (aka “Mi-Mi”) got her and she goes about collecting whatever she can find… pine cones, rocks, wood chips, etc. placing them with excitement and pride into the trash cans. She really enjoys this so when it does come time to go inside, it can be quite a chore. She will fight me and sometimes the only compromise is allowing her to take her trash can with her findings into the house.

Although lately it seems (to me) like this is the only thing Alyssa likes to do when we go outside, that’s not the case. She has outdoor toys that she plays with as well including her corn popper that she can ride on, her baby doll stroller, sidewalk chalk, her car and her swingset. Being outside is rejuvenating for everyone!
